Elena Falcon's Retro Swagga---Vintage Trailers N Stuff
So like all those who came before me, I wanted to share the process of spiffing up our 1965 Aristocrat and 1961 Aljo Travel Trailer. I pretty much suck at blogs, so low expectations would be awesome! :)

Apholstry? Upholstry......You Say Tomato, I Say Tah-Ma-Toe.
Okay, so remember, I pretty much suck at blogs n stuff...Making up words? What I do best. Apohlstry......That's how I roll, so anyhoo, here is the newly upohlstered (stoopid word) cushions....When the dude (and not Jeff Bridges, although that would have been AWESOME) took off the 80's print on the cushions, he found 2 other materials....One of which was the original material before he busted on our new fab fabric......ENJOY! We will needs curtains, so MUM and I will be watching the Joanne's ad so we can go in and wait in line with 40 other people while some emo kid cuts our 40% off fabric for us.
So, Like, Almost There......
So, pretty much a year ago we started this project, actually a year exactly! So here's some more pics of work we've done....It's been a TON!!!! Replaced rotten wood in back left closet and under toilet. Put in new checkerboard VCT tile floor, cleaned the hell outta the thing, re-apholstered the cushions, cleaned the aluminum backsplash....We used Mothers, Acetone and some other god awful chemical my old man uses, replaced all the screws with stainless steel screws, inside and out, polished all aluminum siding, but we still need to do more, took off weird patch job electrical on outside of trailer and fixed vent, coated the entire undercarriage with no rust paint, replaced trailer brakes, lubed and packed bearings, re-wired electrical....Whew!
And still more to do! We need to get the tires back on, finish the curtains, finish about 2 hours of final cleaning, and then decorate, install the flag holder, paint the hitch and the stair (all of which we sanded rust off of), and put all the signage back on and out all original copper cubbord hardware back on (all of whcih has been polished!)....THEN, we will be ready!! Just in time for our 30' 1974 Silver Streak Continental to arrive! WHOOOOOOOO!

Pretty, Pretty PRETTTY!
So, after I bought my Aristocrat, I pretty much got the fever. The aluminum fever. And so one idle day in October, I spied this wonderous travel trailer in Oregon. So what that it was way the heck far away, I had to HAVE IT! It had pink appliances, it was calling my name!!
Altho we have yet to start the rehab on this one, it is in REALLY good shape. I can't WAIT to get it going. Our biggest thing will be to replace some wood on the back panel wall and get the floor retiled....The old yello cafeteria style floor came up in the back on one row because of some leaking around the back panels. But, seriously, this trailer is AWESOME!
Um Sweet. I Actually Posted Something......
Alright, alright, ALRIGHT! I have a post! Hooray! For some reason, this blog logic does not compute to me, howeva, I am none the less happy to be writing sentences right now~! So, here is the skinney. We bought our 65 Aristocrat a year ago and it darkened our domain for 12 months until the conditions were right to start on the rehab. The trailer was parked for 40 years at a family campground and sold to us by the daughter of the original owner. Got some users manuals and the trailer is mostly complete. Not a ton of water damage and in good shape. So far we have cleaned the heck outta this thing, rewired the electic and replaced the old trailer brakes (TRAILER BRAKES!!!!). We repaired some wood damage in the back left closet and repaired the floor under the toilet.
Next on the list, replace some of the damaged wood in the tiny bathroom, paint some stuff and get the canopy up and evaluated ( we got the original canopy that sets up and zips into a tent).
Oh yeah, almost forgot, we replaced the floor even tho the linoleum was original and awesome, cause the prior owners had glued some carpet to it which rendered it no bueno. We also reapolstered the cushions, which provided MUCH entertainment for the APOLSTRY guy as he peeled off three layers of super fun material! YAY!
